Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a "homepage" which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool which is totally free. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage using NotePad, Word, Dreamweaver or FrontPage.

Nevertheless, the "homepage" URL is likely to be "http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe… name" and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., "mydomain.com" which allows you to link any registered domain name to "mask" another website. For example, should you type in the "domain name," you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber… a homepage URL which will be masked by the domain name. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE.

When you acquire a domain name, connect it using a redirection service [as discussed above] and submit/publish the domain name on major search engines/directories in order for Net surfers to find your website.

    Good luck!

I would go with http://www.domain.com since they have everything you’d need to get started whether you are an entrepreneur creating a website for the first time or a SMB or enterprise company looking for a more advanced website and hosting.

They have shared hosting that starts at only $5.25/month and includes a free and easy website building tool called SiteBuilder. http://www.domain.com/hosting/

They also have VPS hosting which is a virtual dedicated server that can give you more power and isolate your hosting from other users. They have cPanel Linux and Plesk plans for Linux and Windows starting at $29.95/month. http://www.domain.com/vps/linux-plesk.php

Worth checking out. If you need any advise on design or marketing elements for your site to get you started let me know.

I would like to tell you about free web hosting service I use now.
    Register here: http://www.000webhost.com/70505.html

They give 350 MB of disk space and 100 GB data transfer. I am now using them for about 3 months and never seen any downtime of server problems. There is no any kind of advertising on my pages too, so I think its worth to signup.

You should avoid hosts that offer "unlimited" space/bandwidth as this is somewhat of a scam. You should also avoid hosts that offer ridiculous amounts of space/bandwidth, such as 10GB space for only $5/month. Hosts like this overload and oversell servers, and are bad news for anyone who wants reliability.

You should also avoid answers here that send you to review sites, as those sites make money off commissions and rank hosts based on how much money they’ll get paid, not on how good they are. You should avoid answers here that look like they are affiliate links as well, for the same reason.

Hostamina.com is exactly what you need. Support is great! They will help you set up your website, and they will provide you with any help you need. Note that I am not using an affiliate link or sending you to a review site.

    http://www.hostamina.com

    -They provide awesome personalized support
-They know how to handle all your business needs
    -They never oversell
    -They never overload servers
    -They offer realistic plans
-You actually get what they say you get
-There is no fake "unlimited" space or bandwidth
-There is no fake "50,000 GB" space or bandwidth
-They will help you with anything you need help with
-They will put you on a super fast server
-Every server has at least dual quad core processors
-Every server has at least 4GB of RAM
-Every server has strict account limitations
-Most companies average 300 accounts per server
-Hostamina averages 100 accounts per server
-Instant Shopping Carts, Blogs, Forums, PHP-Nuke, Joomla, and more!

Well, this is pretty saturated with responses already. However, just in case someone gets to this post, here is some insight:

    1. I like to use smaller companies as they have provided me with great support and great uptime since they aren’t over inundated with servers and clients. http://www.GotHosting.org is a mid size company and is great for support and always being up! For the non-developers, it has Sitebuilder, instant blog installs, fantastico, and cpanel which are all great tools to help non-experienced to very experienced users get on there way. Also very price friendly :) http://www.GotHosting.org/special_deal.php

    2. Hostgator has never really done me wrong. They are a BIG company but their support is still pretty great and responsive along with 99% uptime. So they wouldn’t be a bad second choice in my opinion. Also, you can use discount sites to get a great initial rate like http://www.hostingdiscounted.com

Only pitfall with them is you cannot have any torrent sites or proxy sites. Also, you are limited to 100,000 inodes.

    Hope this helps!

GoDaddy.com is a decent web host.

Don’t go for the free hosting sites. A lot of the time those sites host adult sites, spammers, scam sites or other banned sites and because of that, your site may be banned or penalized as well. It’s always best to buy your own domain name (very important) and place it on a respected, paid hosting service.

I recommend either Godaddy Economy or the Deluxe plan:
    http://www.hosttell.com/godaddy/
    (prices from $4.74/month – $6.99/month)

    or Dreamhost http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

Their standard price is $9.95/month ($119.40/year)
but you can use the promo code PLUS and get
$50 discount +2 Free domain names.

    Disk space: Unlimited
    Bandwidth: Unlimited
    2 Free domain names
    Unlimited domains and subdomains
    Price: $5.78/month ($69.40/year)
